Colonialism and Foreign Religion in Africa

COLONIALISM AND FOREIGN RELIGION IN AFRICA: URAVELING THE CHAINS OF CULTURAL SUBJUGATION.

INTRODUCTION:
Africa’s current situation is a result of slavery, colonialism, and neo-colonialism. The continent’s natural resources have been exploited, Africans have been humiliated, and many are enslaved worldwide. Africa has lost its pride, control, and ability to develop due to external policies imposed by those benefiting from its resources. To restore peace and stability and promote genuine development, we must find a solution.
The Cultural Impact of Colonial Powers:
The British colonized Nigeria and merged diverse territories by force in 1914. They brought Christianity, unfamiliar names, and language to replace indigenous institutions. India resisted similar colonization attempts, but Nigeria still carries the remnants of colonial indoctrination, benefiting British economic interests.
The Influence on Nigeria’s Identity and Nationalism:
Islam reached Nigeria through Arab invasions, erasing aspects of Hausa culture and replacing traditional rulers. The British aligned with Islamic Fulani groups, further eroding identity and heritage in northern Nigeria.
Religion and Nigeria’s National Landscape:
Religion plays a significant role in Nigeria, but it hasn’t translated into moral values. Corruption and deception persist, even within religious circles.
The Paradox of Religious Extremism and Societal Decay:
Despite the presence of churches and mosques, moral values decline. Christians face persecution by extremist Fulani groups seeking land and Islamization. Nigeria also grapples with political desperation, crimes, scams, and violence.
The Economic Disparity and Resource Mismanagement:
Nigeria, rich in resources like petroleum, rice, and beans, imports these commodities instead of being self-sufficient. The gap between the wealthy and the impoverished is alarming. Injustice prevails, and Nigeria is burdened with significant debt.
Lessons from India:
Comparing Nigeria to India reveals missed opportunities. India’s advancements demonstrate what Nigeria can achieve through focused development. Nigeria’s primary agenda should be development, not Islamization.
Nigeria and the Future:
Nigeria’s situation will worsen without change. To address the incompatibilities between merged ethnic groups, a referendum to dissolve Nigeria is necessary. This will dismantle terrorism, foster development, and prevent global threats.
CONCLUSION AND SOLUTION:
The dissolution of Nigeria through a referendum and the emergence of Biafra as a free state is the only solution. This will pave the way for Africa’s rise and liberation. Breaking the chains of cultural subjugation is crucial for a future of peace and prosperity for all.
